Description
The project will replace existing flashing beacons at the intersection of Heald Highway (Routes 17, 131, and 235), Town House Road (Route 235), and Sennebec Road in Union with a fully actuated traffic signal control system. Work includes furnishing and installing a ground-mounted Advanced Traffic Controller cabinet and foundation, field and malfunction monitoring units, stop-bar and advanced non-invasive vehicle detection, vehicular signal heads with retroreflective backplates, span-wire signs, luminaires, wiring, signal cable, conduit, and related incidentals. The contractor must also provide connected-vehicle integration, remote communications through the department's cloud-based central management system and secure VPN, system startup and loading, acceptance testing, training, traffic control, and related site work. The system includes a seven-day initial testing period followed by a required 30 consecutive days of fully functional operation before final acceptance. The stated completion date is August 27, 2027.
