Description
The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority is offering Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program grants to local government agencies for implementing firearms restraining order programs. Eligible activities include planning and research; training for law enforcement, courts, prosecutors, first responders, social service providers, clinicians, and school administrators; technology and risk-assessment initiatives; firearm tracking; program evaluation; court advocacy and navigator services; treatment and community-service linkages; law-enforcement procedures; firearm storage; and related coordination and infrastructure. The solicitation provides $5,000,000 in total funding, with individual awards ranging from $150,000 to $1,000,000. Applicants must submit a one-year proposal for a target performance period of February 1, 2027, through January 31, 2028; additional funding may support up to 36 months of programming. Applications must address program design, jurisdictional need, collaboration, organizational capacity, staffing, implementation schedules, goals and performance measures, and a detailed budget. Match funding is not required, and applicants must be pre-qualified through Illinois GATA requirements and maintain active SAM registration and a UEI.
