Description
The County of Kauai, through its Division of Purchasing, is soliciting proposals from qualified providers to conduct annual physical examinations for the Kauai Fire Department. The examinations must be performed by a licensed physician (M.D. or D.O.) in accordance with the Hawaii Fire Fighters Association Collective Bargaining Agreement and NFPA 1582 standards. The scope of work includes comprehensive physical exams, medical history reviews, skin cancer assessments, health promotion counseling, sleep disturbance apnea questionnaires, cardiac risk stratification, OSHA respiratory questionnaires, and firefighting medical clearances. Additionally, the provider must offer ultrasound screenings (thyroid, carotid artery, aortic aneurysm, kidney, liver, spleen, pancreas, gallbladder, bladder, testicular, external prostate, and external pelvic), laboratory blood and urine testing (CBC, comprehensive metabolic panel, fasting lipid panel, urinalysis, diabetes screening, thyroid panel, hemoccult, CA-125, PSA, vitamin D, hs-CRP, and serum uric acid), and occupational health testing (audiogram, biometric screening, spirometry, vital signs, vision screening, blood pressure monitoring, and resting EKG). The contract is an indefinite quantity contract for an estimated 145 examinations annually, with a three-year term. The provider must have a medical facility centrally located in the Lihue area or offer mobile services, and all laboratory work must be processed on the island of Kauai. Proposals must be submitted electronically via the Public Purchase System by September 4, 2026.
