Description
NASA's Office of Strategic Infrastructure is conducting a Request for Information to support the creation of the United States Space Academy, a NASA-led civilian federal academic institution. NASA will accept one official state-sponsored response per state, prepared by a governor-designated Responding Entity and coordinated and formally endorsed by a governor-designated State Selecting Official. The Governor must designate both officials in writing. Responses should propose permanent campus location(s), land and site-control arrangements, infrastructure and environmental conditions, supporting academic and industry ecosystems, and a credible interim operating model for approximately 300 inaugural students beginning in 2028. Respondents should describe the transition to a permanent campus capable of supporting 1,200 undergraduate students by fall 2031, with future growth to approximately 4,000 students, as well as rough-order-of-magnitude establishment costs and material state, local, institutional, or other nonfederal partnership contributions. NASA encourages conceptual site plans and architectural renderings where available. Responses are limited to 47 pages, except qualifying independent third-party materials and separate alternate-location documents, and must be searchable, unlocked PDFs with edit permission enabled, formatted in 12-point Times New Roman with one-inch margins and specified spacing. This RFI is for planning and evaluation only and will not directly result in a contract or other federal instrument.
