Description
The City of San Luis Obispo is seeking a qualified community mediation organization to launch and administer a Community Mediation Program. Services include receiving referrals from the City, California Polytechnic State University, and residents; conducting intake and pre-mediation discussions; providing phone-based conflict coaching; facilitating confidential, voluntary mediation sessions; and supporting constructive resolution of neighborhood, interpersonal, and community conflicts. The selected organization will also provide approximately 60 hours of conflict-resolution and de-escalation training annually, develop educational and marketing materials, maintain an information resource website, conduct outreach, participate in Student Community Liaison Committee meetings as requested, and provide quarterly anonymized program reports. The initial contract period is expected to run from November 15, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with three possible 12-month extensions. The forecast budget for each full contract year is $90,000, jointly funded by the City and Cal Poly. Proposals must include qualifications, resumes, billing rates, a work approach, at least three references, a certificate of insurance, and any requested contract changes.
