Description
The City of Milpitas is soliciting bids for scheduled and as-needed inspection, maintenance, hydrostatic testing, repair, recharging, replacement, inventory, disposal, and related services for approximately 486 portable fire extinguishers at 17 City service locations, including facilities, fleet vehicles, and fire vehicles. The contractor must service dry chemical, carbon dioxide, Halon, water-based, and Class K wet chemical extinguishers; provide labor, parts, equipment, transportation, records, service tags, inventory updates, disposal documentation, safety data sheets, and new or replacement extinguishers as required. The contractor must maintain applicable California State Fire Marshal licensing and technician registrations and Department of Industrial Relations registration. Routine requests require a response within 24 business hours, emergency requests within four business hours, and off-site equipment must be returned within 10 business days. Hydrostatic testing may be subcontracted, but other subcontracting is restricted. The contract term is five years, with estimated quantities provided for bid evaluation only and no guaranteed minimum service volume.
