Description
The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is seeking Statements of Qualifications from construction contractors for pre-qualification to perform the Overhead Contact System Rehabilitation Project, Phase 4A, in the Tasman West/East corridor. The eventual construction work includes replacing worn 300 kcmil single contact wire; rehabilitating or replacing insulators, counterweight and fixed termination assemblies, headspans, cross spans, pull-offs, midpoint anchors, gull-wing supports, and related OCS hardware; replacing surge arresters; repairing or replacing specified poles; installing pole numbering and supplemental supports; and performing associated engineering, procurement, installation, inspections, testing, traffic control, staging, and coordination needed to maintain light rail operations. The pre-qualification package requires a completed questionnaire and qualification statements, current California contractor licensing information, financial statements, bonding-capacity documentation, insurance information, organizational and compliance history, and recent construction-project experience with verifiable references. The contractor or its subcontractor must demonstrate installation of at least five miles of overhead contact system for a mainline electrification railroad or urban transit system within the past 10 years, with each qualifying contract having an original value of at least $800,000. The estimated eventual construction value is $1.7 million to $2.3 million, with an estimated construction duration of 538 calendar days. Work will occur in an active light rail operating environment and requires compliance with VTA safety and operating procedures.
