Description
Montana State University's Electrical and Computer Engineering Department is considering a sole source purchase for a Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) testing system from Keysight Technologies Inc. The total contract value is estimated at $139,229.38. The required system must include a manual PIC chip testing station for both edge and grating coupler characterization. It needs to support wavelength-swept insertion loss measurements from 1490-1640nm with high wavelength accuracy and repeatability. The setup must provide dual-channel optical power detection with a dynamic range from +10dBm to 80dBm for accurate transmission, loss, and spectral response measurements. Sub-micron alignment capability with 0.5mm finer resolution is required for single-fiber and fiber array coupling to SOI photonic devices. Additionally, a polarization synthesizer for controlled TE/TM state generation during characterization is necessary. The imaging system must include both horizontal and vertical microscope cameras, with the vertical camera capable of +/-55-degree rotation and customized positioning. The system also requires a PIC chip and teaching module for structured training and standardized testing workflows.
