Description
The National Park Service is seeking winter pasture services for up to 18 government-owned horses and mules. The pasture must be located no more than 100 driven miles from Moose, WY, and must be suitable for grazing from approximately November 1st to May 6th annually. The contractor will be responsible for providing adequate land, forage, feed, water, and fencing to sustain the animals in good condition, ensuring a safe environment free from hazards. Shelter from the elements must be available through natural topography or man-made structures. Fencing must be a minimum of 42 inches high with four strands of wire. Supplemental feed, such as high-quality, weed-free grass/alfalfa mix hay, must be provided when pasture forage is insufficient or conditions like deep snow or extreme cold occur. Reliable water sources must be available at all times. The contractor must observe the animals daily for injuries or illness and report any concerns within 24 hours. The contractor will be liable for losses due to negligence. The government will provide farrier services, veterinary care, and transportation of the animals. Disposal of deceased animals will be reimbursed at a rate of $150 per animal. The period of performance is from November 1, 2026, to May 1, 2027.
