Description
The Department of the Air Force, through its Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), is soliciting white papers for innovative research and development in Cyberspace Operations and Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO). This Advanced Research Announcement (ARA), titled "Cyberspace Operations for Resilient Tactical Engagement and Execution (CORTEX)", aims to develop technologies that can operate, adapt, and persist in contested, dynamic, and adversarial Cyber-Physical environments and the Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS). Key technology areas include microelectronics for airborne/edge computing and Software-Defined Radio (SDR), advancements in Electronic Warfare (EW) and EMSO-enabled Cyberspace Operations, techniques for maneuver across Cyberspace and EMS, analog and biological technologies for SDR and EMSO, anti-tamper and hardening technologies for transitioning hardware and software to foreign partners, and the advancement of formal methods for developing reliable and secure SDRs. The total estimated funding for this ARA is approximately $460M, with individual awards potentially ranging from $10M to $50M, and a ceiling value up to $99M. Multiple awards are anticipated, with the announcement open until December 31, 2030.
