Description

The U.S. Army is soliciting a general contractor for the complete demolition and modernization of the existing elevator in Building 246. Amendment 01 changes the replacement system from a hydraulic, holeless, roped, single-jack cantilever elevator to an in-ground hydraulic passenger elevator while retaining a 4,500-pound capacity, three front openings, approximately 24 feet 3 inches of travel, and 100 feet per minute operation. The existing hoistway will be reused and modified as necessary, including pit work, boring, PVC jack encasement, soil testing, and potential rock drilling pricing. The system must be non-proprietary and comply with ANSI A17.1-2016, NFPA 13, NFPA 72, UFC 3-600-01, and IBC Chapter 30. The scope also includes construction of an adjacent 8-by-9-foot elevator equipment room; fire sprinkler, fire alarm, HVAC, emergency communication, and electrical modifications; construction management, scheduling, cost estimating, quality control, subcontractor coordination, safety planning, project signage, utility coordination, waste diversion of at least 60 percent, shop drawings, as-built drawings, and operation and maintenance manuals. Structural and fire-protection drawings must be signed and sealed by a professional engineer. The Government requires AutoCAD or Revit record files, with editable Revit files to be provided, and will review submittals within the stated review periods. The existing elevator becomes the contractor's property for disposal, and interior modifications require Government approval but not National Park Service approval.
