Henrico County Government is soliciting bids for renovations to Johnson Elementary School, including approximately 1,238 square feet of new space for a main security entrance and modernization of the cafetorium, library, multipurpose building, administrative offices, and classroom buildings. Building work includes selective demolition and abatement, masonry and interior partitions, window replacement, roofing repairs and replacement, accessibility modifications, life-safety improvements, interior finishes, mechanical, electrical, selective plumbing, and energy-management-system upgrades. Site work includes reconfiguration of parking and the bus loop, bus-loop canopy installation, site lighting, fencing, grading, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, utilities, driveways, paving, sidewalks, signage, landscaping, and a public shared-use path. The school will remain occupied during phased construction, and work must avoid disrupting normal classroom activities; temporary modular classrooms are available on site. The completed project will encompass approximately 53,879 square feet of interior space.
