Description
This is a Sources Sought notice, not a solicitation for proposals or quotations. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences is assessing small-business capability to provide a continuous supply of commercial screened hardwood laboratory animal bedding. The specified product must be made only from beech, birch, or maple, meet detailed particle-size, dust, moisture, and contaminant limits, and be packaged in new, labeled paper bags. The anticipated ordering pattern is one truckload of approximately 1,300 bags per order, about every 8–10 weeks as needed; the contractor would manufacture and store three truckloads per production run and deliver approved orders when directed. Testing, representative samples, delivery coordination, and packing slips are also part of the anticipated work. Interested small businesses are asked to email a capability statement of no more than seven pages. It must identify the vendor and its size/type, provide a knowledgeable point of contact, UEI, and relevant professional and technical qualifications, and reference the notice number. The anticipated contract period is five years, with a possible extension of up to six months. Responses to this market survey will not be treated as responses to a later solicitation.
