Description
The University of Washington seeks a contractor to evaluate, design, permit, fabricate, and install a new addressable fire alarm and notification system in an occupied medical office building. The work includes a new fire alarm control panel, speaker/strobe notification devices, wiring and rough-ins, replacement of existing devices, programming, commissioning, testing, updated as-built drawings, and final fire department permit signoff. The new system must be installed and commissioned in phases while the existing system remains operational; work is scheduled outside clinic business hours to limit disruption. The scope also requires a dedicated full-time superintendent experienced in occupied medical facilities and infection-control measures. The RFP identifies Johnson Controls/Simplex equipment as the University’s preferred system and manufacturer.
