Description
The City of Rockford is soliciting bids for labor, materials, equipment, and supplies necessary to paint and rehabilitate the Harrison Avenue Bridge over the Rock River. The work includes reconstructing the west abutment backwall and wingwalls; repairing structural concrete on the underside of the deck and piers; repairing steel beams; removing and replacing expansion bearings; replacing expansion joints; cleaning and painting structural steel; mobilization; and bridge cleaning and painting warranty work. The project also requires specialized traffic control and protection, temporary pavement markings, temporary concrete barriers and impact attenuators, containment and disposal of lead-paint cleaning residues, environmental monitoring, waste management, quality-control inspections, and compliance with applicable Illinois Department of Transportation, prevailing-wage, apprenticeship, safety, and environmental requirements. The existing structural steel coating contains lead. Contractors must submit required qualifications, work plans, schedules, and quality-control and containment documentation, and the completed coating system is subject to a two-year warranty.
