Description
The City of San Jose Energy Department is soliciting applications for the Support of Electrification Education (SEE) Grant Program, which provides up to $400,000 in total funding. Track 1 offers one award of up to $100,000 for accredited educational institutions, vocational schools, or training facilities to procure and install equipment supporting existing electrification curricula. Track 2 offers multiple awards of up to $20,000 each for labor unions, Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees, licensed contractors, and private training providers to purchase equipment for hands-on electrification workforce training. Track 3 offers one award of up to $200,000 for San Jose community colleges to develop and deliver new electric-vehicle coursework, including curriculum development, faculty training, EVs, charging stations, diagnostic equipment, tools, personal protective equipment, simulation rigs, and related infrastructure upgrades. Applicants must be located or based in San Jose and must submit a separate application for each grant track pursued. Applications must include a cover letter, experience and qualifications, a program plan and anticipated outcomes, and a cost proposal in a single Microsoft Word document or PDF. The application is limited to 10 pages, with specified page limits for each section, and must use an easily readable font no smaller than 11 points. Grant terms are one year for Tracks 1 and 2 and two years for Track 3; funded equipment must be installed and used at the awardee's San Jose facility and maintained during the applicable commitment period.
