Description
The Department of Defense, through the Defense Health Agency, is soliciting grant applications for the Fiscal Year 2026 Rare Cancers Research Program (RCRP) Idea Development Award (IDA). This program aims to support innovative research ideas that are ready for further development and have the potential to yield high-impact findings and open new avenues of investigation in the field of rare cancers. The RCRP IDA encourages applicants to include exploratory aims to support discovery-driven research. Preliminary data with disease-specific rationale are required, though they do not necessarily need to originate from studies of the specific rare cancer type(s) under investigation. Research proposals must demonstrate exceptional scientific merit, a clear rationale, and a high potential impact on rare cancers and the patient community. The maximum award amount is $490,000, with a maximum period of performance of 3 years. Funding is anticipated to be awarded using FY26 funds.
