Description
The Iowa Department of Transportation is soliciting competitive bids for tungsten-carbide insert snowplow cutting edges and related accessories. The line items include 300 three-foot rubber-encased blade sections, 600 four-foot rubber-encased blade sections, three- and four-foot cover straps with square holes, and three- and four-foot back supports. All bid lines must be submitted to be considered, and an initial purchase order will be issued for the awarded products. The blades must meet detailed material, dimensional, carbide-grade, brazing, marking, certification, inspection, delivery, and warranty requirements. Specifications require virgin mining-grade tungsten carbide inserts with specified cobalt content, density, hardness, rupture strength, and brazing characteristics; Kennametal 3030 or demonstrated equivalents are acceptable. Bidders must upload mill certifications and manufacturers' specification sheets, certify compliance, and provide alternate-brand specifications when applicable. The buyer may request samples at no cost before award. Amendment 1 adds the requirement that each blade contain a rubber-encased insert and updates the marking/rubber-casing specifications. Deliveries are FOB destination and subject to inspection and acceptance.
