Description
The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice is soliciting a contractor to provide on-site optometry services for juveniles at facilities across Kentucky. The scope includes comprehensive eye examinations, laboratory services for filling eyeglass prescriptions, replacement of broken lenses, frame adjustments and repairs, and contact lenses when clinically justified. The contractor must provide all necessary equipment, products, supplies, and staffing; ensure eyeglasses meet ANSI standards; provide examination records for medical files; coordinate facility visits; and comply with HIPAA, correctional-health, and applicable professional standards. The contractor must provide daily clinic and eyewear pricing, serve facilities when at least four juveniles require care or when requested, support quality-assurance activities and staff consultations, and designate a licensed optometrist to cover absences. Proposals will be evaluated on qualifications and expertise, references, relevant experience, availability, cost, and—if requested—an oral presentation. The initial contract is anticipated to run from October 20, 2026, through June 30, 2028, with up to two additional two-year renewal periods.
