Description
Central Connecticut State University is soliciting proposals for interdisciplinary Clusters of Excellence addressing significant societal challenges. Eligible proposals must combine faculty expertise from multiple disciplines, meaningfully engage students in hands-on or applied learning, and include at least one external partner such as a community organization, business, governmental agency, educational institution, healthcare organization, or nonprofit. Initial focus areas include climate and environmental sustainability, economic opportunity, global health, Industry 4.0 and emerging technologies, and transformational models in education. Proposals should include a cluster overview, one-page executive summary, five-page proposal narrative, timeline, budget form, and brief budget justification. The narrative must address the challenge, interdisciplinary collaboration, student applied learning, external engagement, approach and activities, outcomes and impact, and sustainability and growth. Typical seed funding requests are $25,000; funding for external partners is not allowable. The initial grant period is February 1, 2027, through June 30, 2028, with possible additional funding for up to three years total subject to availability and satisfactory progress.
