Description
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will award up to $1,000,000 to one Virginia-based charitable organization to administer a produce incentive program for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program participants. The selected organization must develop partnerships with farmers, producers, grocery stores, farmers markets, mobile markets, and farm stores to provide double purchasing power for eligible fresh produce purchases made with SNAP/EBT funds. The program must demonstrate statewide reach, equitable distribution, participant benefits, produce sourcing from Virginia producers, marketing, and measurable outcomes. Applicants must submit a cover page, project narrative, and budget with a detailed budget narrative. The narrative must address project purpose, expected measurable outcomes, and a project execution timeline. Eligible applicants must be legally authorized to operate in Virginia, in good standing, operational for at least three years, experienced in relevant work, capable of sourcing agricultural products from Virginia producers, and free of outstanding compliance issues related to prior grants. The grant period is November 1, 2026, through October 31, 2027, and administrative costs may comprise up to 10 percent of the total budget.
