Description
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) requires a custom-built 18-foot electrofishing raft, complete with a trailer and generator, for the North Carolina Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit (NCCFWRU). This specialized raft is essential for sampling fish in rocky rivers across North Carolina's Fall-line, Piedmont, and mountain regions. The raft must be compatible with existing Midwest Lake Electrofishing Systems (MLES) equipment, including control boxes and boats, to ensure efficiency, data standardization, and safety for research personnel. The custom raft will feature hardwired electrical components, a safety rail, a trailer tailored for the raft, and a compatible generator. The USGS has identified Midwest Lake Electrofishing Systems as the sole source due to their unique ability to manufacture the raft, electrofishing equipment, and trailer in tandem, ensuring full integration and compatibility with the NCCFWRU's current MLES fleet.
