Description
The Garment District Alliance (GDA) is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to conduct a comprehensive corridor study and create a conceptual master plan for Eighth Avenue between Penn Station and Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City. The study aims to identify short-term and long-term actionable design interventions to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety, circulation, and quality of life. The scope includes assessing existing conditions, conducting mobility and traffic studies, engaging stakeholders, developing vision and concept alternatives, and producing a phased implementation strategy with preliminary capital costs and funding opportunities. The consultant will work with partners including NYC DOT and other city agencies to move from concept to implementation. The project is expected to begin in fall 2026 and conclude within twelve months of contract award.
