Description
The City of New York Department of Transportation is soliciting competitive sealed bids from contractors to retrofit at least 660 existing signalized intersections per awarded geographic zone with accessible pedestrian signals. The work includes furnishing and installing accessible pedestrian signals, pedestrian signal heads, signal cabling, conduit systems, junction boxes, mounting hardware, poles, mast arms, foundations, controllers, and related appurtenances, together with excavation, roadway and sidewalk restoration, pavement markings, traffic control, testing, activation, programming, and field adjustment. Work is distributed across five zones: Manhattan South; Manhattan North and the Bronx; Queens; North Brooklyn; and South Brooklyn and Staten Island. NYCDOT intends to engage three or more contractors. The contract is a unit-price public works contract with work issued through project-specific work orders and no guaranteed volume. Contractors must meet extensive traffic-signal, electrical, work-zone safety, apprenticeship, prevailing-wage, reporting, inspection, and maintenance requirements. The bid requires a completed bid schedule, bidder information and certification, M/WBE utilization materials, and either bid security of 2% of the bid or a bid bond of 10% of the bid. Performance and payment bonds are each required at 100% of the contract price. The M/WBE participation goal is 30%, and the contract term is 1,080 days from the commencement date in the Notice to Proceed, with substantial completion milestones established by zone.
