Description
The Department of Defense, through the Defense Health Agency Contracting Activity, is soliciting applications for the Bone Marrow Failure Research Program (BMFRP) Idea Development Award (IDA). This program aims to support innovative and high-impact approaches to understanding and curing bone marrow failure diseases. The award is open to both Established Investigators (EIs) and Early-Career Investigators (ECIs), with distinct review criteria for each. Preliminary data is not required, but applications must demonstrate the ability to achieve interpretable results. The total program funding is estimated at $4,000,000, with approximately five awards expected, each capped at $800,000 over a maximum of three years. Research should focus on inherited or acquired bone marrow failure diseases, with specific attention to areas like Aplastic Anemia, Fanconi Anemia, and Myelodysplastic Syndromes, among others. Studies focused primarily on myeloproliferative neoplasms, leukemia, or other malignancies are not within the scope of this program. Applications must address at least one of the FY26 BMFRP focus areas: finding effective treatments and cures for BMF, or understanding the causes and progression of BMF diseases.
