Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN15, requires 697 wireless and 574 wired barcode scanners for outpatient medication administration. These scanners are essential for the Barcode Medication Administration (BCMA) system's expansion into outpatient areas as part of the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) initiative. All scanners must be compatible with both BCMA and Oracle/Cerner systems and must be listed on Oracle Health's Validated Peripheral List (VPL). The contractor will deliver the equipment to seven VISN15 facilities within 90 days of contract award. Key requirements for all scanners include camera-based area imagers with 2D imager engines, support for various barcode symbologies (1D, 2D, ISBT128, GS1), firmware upgradability, omnidirectional scanning, and a minimum focal distance of 3 inches. Wireless scanners must meet FIPS 140-3 compliance, have a transmission range of at least 20 feet, and a battery life exceeding 2000 recharge cycles. Wired scanners must weigh less than 10oz and connect via standard USB. All equipment comes with a minimum one-year warranty, and the contractor must provide electronic copies of operator and service manuals.
