Description
The National Endowment for the Humanities is soliciting new grant applications for Landmarks of American History and Culture and Summer Institutes projects serving either K-12 educators or higher education faculty. Funded projects must provide one- to three-week residential professional-development programs for 25–36 participants per session, convened during two consecutive summers in 2028 and 2029. Landmarks projects must use place-based approaches focused on historically or culturally significant U.S. sites, while Institutes may address any humanities topic. Applicants must provide qualified project directors, replacement directors, appropriate faculty and staff, a project website, participant recruitment and selection, accessibility accommodations, evaluation, and post-program engagement. Applicants may request up to $300,000 for a one-week project, $410,000 for a two-week project, or $460,000 for a three-week project. Approximately 17 grants totaling about $7,000,000 are anticipated, with no required cost sharing. Applications must include the specified narrative, work plan, resumes, letters of commitment, reading list, academic schedule, applicable conditional attachments, and required Grants.gov forms.
