Description
The Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Access to Justice is accepting applications for 2027 Disability Access Grants. Eligible applicants include Illinois courts and court systems, circuit or reviewing court clerk's offices, law libraries, sheriff's offices, bailiff's offices, state's attorney's offices, and public defender's offices, provided they apply in partnership with a local Court Disability Coordinator serving as Grant Liaison. Grant funds may support projects or activities that promote equal access to court for people with disabilities, including architectural accessibility improvements, accessibility audits, Communication Access Realtime Translation, community feedback sessions, accessible signage and physical court forms, disability-related training by outside presenters, accessible educational resources, and user testing. The application must address the proposed project, goals and sustainability, partnerships, evaluation, requested amount and itemized budget, and required letters of support. Applicants may request up to $40,000; total available funding is $400,000. The one-year grant period runs from January 1 through December 31, 2027.
