The Missouri Department of Mental Health is soliciting fit-for-duty examination services for St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center–North, St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center–South, and Hawthorn Children’s Psychiatric Hospital. Examinations must assess whether applicants and employees returning to duty can safely perform the essential functions of their positions and must include medical history collection, vital signs, height and weight, musculoskeletal screening when indicated, grip-strength testing, weighted box lifts, and job-specific physical simulations. Required simulations include emergency-response treadmill activity, stair climbing, sled pulls, CPR performance, postural-tolerance tasks, walking-assistance simulations, and carrying a consumer up and down a platform while handling a weighted object. A licensed physical therapist with at least three years of experience must administer the examinations; a qualified physical therapist assistant may conduct certain pre-employment examinations under the direction of a licensed physical therapist. The contractor must schedule examinations, coordinate with facility personnel, report results within one to two business days, assist with interpretation, maintain examination records, and comply with applicable confidentiality, HIPAA, accreditation, background-check, and insurance requirements. The initial contract period runs from the date of award through one year, with two additional one-year renewal periods at the Department’s option.
