Description
The Bureau of Justice Assistance, within the U.S. Department of Justice, is soliciting applications for a cooperative agreement to establish and operate a National Center for Veterans Justice. The Center will provide specialized support to state, local, and tribal criminal justice agencies; treatment and service providers; courts; corrections systems; and community supervision agencies. The scope includes developing and providing specialized tools, training, and technical assistance addressing veteran identification, cross-system coordination, military culture, combat trauma, military sexual trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, and other veteran-specific considerations. The Center is intended to improve justice-system outcomes and public safety by coordinating criminal justice, Veterans Affairs, behavioral health, and social-service systems. Eligible applicants include specified higher-education institutions, small businesses, other for-profit organizations, and qualifying nonprofit organizations. The award ceiling is $4,000,000, with no cost-sharing or matching requirement.
