Description
Aitkin County seeks proposals from attorneys or law firms to provide court-appointed legal representation for eligible parents, guardians, custodians, and other individuals in juvenile protection, family, and probate matters. The scope includes CHIPS, termination of parental rights, permanency, paternity, child-support contempt, judicial commitment, conservatorship, and guardianship cases. The selected providers must be available on short notice for hearings, represent clients throughout assigned cases, check for conflicts, maintain case and time records, and provide necessary administrative support, facilities, supplies, equipment, transportation, and legal research materials. The County anticipates awarding contracts to two service providers. Proposals must include a signed cover letter, attorney resumes, copies of Minnesota law licenses, a completed Affidavit Concerning Eligibility for each attorney, specified references, and a proposed monthly fee covering services and incidental expenses. The initial contract term is two years, with three possible one-year renewals by mutual agreement. Services must begin no later than January 1, 2027. The contract requires commercial general liability/professional liability coverage, automobile insurance, and workers' compensation coverage as applicable.
