Description
The City of Santa Monica is seeking a consultant to advance planning and pre-design for a public park on the Santa Monica Airport site, which is scheduled to close on December 31, 2028. The work focuses on the Immersive Nature District and connectivity improvements along 25th Street and Airport Avenue. The selected consultant will research existing plans and community input; develop nature-district and connectivity concepts; prepare engineering and landscape plans; conduct community outreach in English and Spanish; validate prior Airport Avenue improvements; perform site surveying; and coordinate with City staff and applicable environmental-review and permitting requirements. Additional services include cost estimating, a final report documenting outreach, studies, designs, engineering, landscape plans, and costs, and an optional future phase covering schematic design, design development, construction documentation, permitting, and additional outreach. The project is funded through a $499,149 grant plus a $130,326 City cash match, for a total grant-project budget of $629,475 including contingency. Proposals are evaluated on experience, references, work plan, project team, cost, value added, and accuracy.
