Description
Barnstable County is seeking an environmental consultant to revise its countywide Community Wildfire Preparedness Plan. The work includes identifying and ranking wildfire hazard areas, assessing fire-suppression capabilities, collecting and validating spatial and written data, developing community-based maps and wildfire risk assessments, and preparing mitigation recommendations for fuel treatments, structural ignitability, land management, infrastructure, public education, and wildfire readiness. The plan will address Barnstable County’s 15 municipalities and coordinate with municipal fire departments, state and federal agencies, Joint Base Cape Cod, and Cape Cod National Seashore. The consultant will lead stakeholder and public engagement, including at least one public meeting in each of the 15 towns, and conduct physical visits to approximately three to four areas of concern per town to verify and calibrate data. The consultant will produce draft and final plan materials, GIS datasets and metadata, technical documentation, and an interactive project HUB integrated with Barnstable County’s existing ArcGIS Online/GIS organization. The HUB will provide wildfire-risk mapping, mitigation resources, public-comment functionality, and implementation tracking; ongoing hosting and maintenance will be handled by the County. Addenda clarify that the contract is expected to run for approximately 13 months, ending November 30, 2027, with a funding ceiling of $180,000 and total project cost of $198,750 including $18,750 in de minimis funding. Travel and meals are included in the contract without reimbursement.
