Description
The Bureau of Justice Assistance is offering grants to eligible state, county, city or township, special district, Native American tribal, and other local government entities for projects that reduce wasteful spending and improve efficiency across justice-system operations while addressing crime and recidivism. Proposed projects may address law enforcement, prosecution, courts, sentencing, jails, prisons, probation, parole, data sharing, forensic processing, mental-health or substance-use responses, correctional staffing, contraband prevention, and related public-safety challenges. The opportunity anticipates three to six awards of up to $4,000,000 each, with an expected 36-month award period beginning January 1, 2027. Applications must include a proposal abstract, a proposal narrative of no more than 10 pages, a budget, required certifications and disclosures, a timeline, and applicable partner, financial, and priority-consideration materials. The application is submitted in two stages through Grants.gov and JustGrants; no cost sharing is required.
