Description
The City seeks demolition and clearance of eight public nuisance residential structures, approximately 400 to 2,600 square feet each. Work includes removing existing slabs, sidewalks, and driveways; removing trees and grinding stumps as needed; wetting structures during demolition to meet NESHAP visual-emissions requirements; and disposing of debris in a permitted landfill, except that block, brick, wiring, and concrete may be salvaged. After demolition, contractors must level the lots, fill noticeable depressions, and apply seed and straw mulch. Damaged or unsafe septic tanks must be pumped, filled with sand, and compacted before site restoration. Bids require a bid bond or cashier’s check equal to 5% of the bid. The contractor must provide performance and payment bonds, each equal to 100% of the contract price. For bids exceeding $100,000, bidders must hold an applicable Alabama contractor license and certification. The successful bidder must carry comprehensive public liability insurance of at least $1,000,000. Work must be completed within 45 consecutive calendar days after issuance of the notice to proceed. Bidders must be enrolled in E-Verify and actively registered in SAM.gov before contract execution.
