Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is conducting market research for the EHRM Infrastructure Upgrades Construction project at the Montgomery VA Medical Center in Montgomery, Alabama. This project requires a general contractor to furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision for comprehensive upgrades. Key aspects of the work include the construction of a standalone data center, upgrading facility fiber throughout the buildings to each Telecommunication Room (TR), providing redundant fiber runs, installing additional electrical outlets, upgrading facility power and HVAC distribution, conducting a physical security assessment and upgrades, and performing hazardous material abatement as required. All work must adhere to the provided drawings and specifications. The procurement is planned as a competitive, firm-fixed-price contract using a design-bid-build approach. The solicitation is anticipated to be issued as either a Request For Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation for Bid (IFB). The estimated magnitude of construction is between $20,000,000.00 and $50,000,000.00, with a North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code of 236220. The project duration is estimated at 911 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed. The VA is also exploring the potential requirement for a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) for this large-scale construction project.
