Description
The University of Kentucky is seeking proposals for a price contract covering acceptance, processing, sorting, and marketing of the University's single-stream co-mingled recyclable materials, with either reimbursement for material value or charges for processing. The scope also includes hauling and accepting source-separated recyclable materials, including baled LDPE film, PP blue wrap, HDPE IV bag wrappers, mixed-plastic animal cages, PS injector trays, HDPE plastic barrels, and HDPE/PP plastic pallets. The University reported collecting 1,102 tons of single-stream recyclable material in 2025, although quantities fluctuate with the academic calendar and source-separated material quantities vary by year. Offerors must describe their recycling operations, collection and transportation capabilities, handling of loose or baled materials, contamination identification and fees, end-market verification, ownership of materials, reporting of monthly volumes and weights, and support for recycling education and outreach. The proposal must include technical and financial proposals, three similar-work references, an implementation schedule, and responses addressing qualifications, services, financial pricing, successful performance, and additional information. The contract is for one annual term with up to four additional one-year renewals. Addendum #2 provides written answers regarding material quantities, bale weights, storage, and current handling practices, and requires the RFP and addenda to be received by September 10, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Lexington time.
