Santa Clara Valley Water District is preparing a prequalification process for general contractors to perform the Sunnyvale East and West Channels Flood Protection Project. The approximately $85–$95 million project will provide 100-year flood protection capacity for 47 acres of industrial land and more than 1,600 homes across approximately 9.4 miles of existing channels. The anticipated work includes concrete floodwalls and headwalls, bridge replacement, new and retrofitted concrete culverts, levee raising, channel-bank and channel-bed stabilization, sediment removal, a pedestrian and bicycle trail, grading, earthwork, and related flood-control improvements. Contractors must be prequalified before submitting a bid and must hold a current Class A California contractor's license.
