Description
The U.S. Army is conducting a Sources Sought/RFI market investigation for individual water purification devices or technologies that can reduce or remove toxic industrial chemicals and materials from indigenous fresh water sources. Candidate solutions should be compatible with military canteens and hydration systems, meet Buy American Act requirements, and be suitable for integration with the Individual Water Treatment Device and MOLLE Hydration System. Desired characteristics include a maximum weight of 12 ounces, compact size, treatment capacity of at least 135 liters, five-year storage stability, an 18-month unused service life, operation from -33°C to 52°C, freeze/thaw resilience, a target treat-to-drink time below 20 minutes, and a flow rate of at least 200 mL/min where applicable. Respondents should provide information on current commercial products, technical literature and test data, patents or illustrations, company experience and facilities, product costs, business size and socioeconomic status, CAGE and NAICS codes, any applicable GSA Federal Supply Schedule contract number, and relevant microbiological or chemical reduction data. Physical samples are optional and will not be reimbursed. The attached materials identify chemical reduction targets including arsenic, cyanide, mercury, chloroform, benzene, toluene, naphthalene, aldicarb, methamidophos, paraquat dichloride, and uranium; optional microbiological performance may be addressed under NSF P248.01, while chemical purifier testing is described in NSF P248.02.
