The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Wastewater Program seeks Hologic Panther and Panther Fusion instrumentation, associated manufacturer service, and Hologic-specific core reagents for wastewater testing. The systems are intended to support automated, high-throughput molecular testing, including overnight operation without staff present, open-access target development, and flexible testing of multiple pathogens. The procurement does not include Hologic panels; panels will be developed in-house for the wastewater workflow. The justification identifies Hologic as the sole manufacturer and distributor of the instrumentation, service, and core reagents, citing proprietary equipment and software, OEM-only parts and support, and the need for compatibility with the existing laboratory workflow. The estimated project value is $1.5 million over a stated five-year term.
