Description
The City of New Haven's Office of Economic Development is soliciting proposals for the adaptive reuse and activation of the former CT Transit information booth located on the New Haven Green. The goal is to transform this highly visible, transit-oriented site into an active and welcoming asset that enhances pedestrian experience, supports transit riders, and contributes to the vibrancy and safety of the area. Proposals may include small-format retail, arts and cultural programming, tourism services, or community services. The City will prioritize proposals demonstrating operational feasibility, a clear business model, and the ability to maintain an attractive presence. Rental terms are negotiable due to the small scale and physical constraints of the site, with flexibility for successful activation and long-term sustainability. The site is an approximately 100 sq ft enclosed booth structure equipped with electricity, heating, and seasonal air conditioning. It is located in a high-traffic public space with direct access to a major bus hub. The location is within walking distance of Union Station and State Street Station, and is surrounded by commercial, cultural, and civic institutions. The booth does not have access to potable water, limiting food-related uses to pre-packaged goods. Respondents are responsible for any necessary improvements, maintenance, sanitation, and pest control.
