Description
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is requesting quotes for the sealing of two artesian wells in accordance with MN Rules 4725.3850 and Minnesota Statute 103I.301. This work must be performed by a licensed contractor or licensed well-sealing contractor. The sealing log will be provided to the Field Station and the Regional Environmental Compliance Coordinator upon completion. Well #1 is located at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Upper Mississippi River NFWR - Winona District Mathy Site in Minnesota City, MN, with a 12-inch casing depth estimated between 140-150 feet. Access to this site requires crossing private property and may involve removing bushes and trees. The ground is not level, and a pad may need to be constructed. The contractor is responsible for confirming well depth and contacting the Minnesota Department of Health Well Sealing Department for an estimate. Well #2 is located at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Upper Mississippi River NFWR - La Crosse District Miller Site in La Crescent, MN. The wellhead is encased in concrete, and the casing is estimated to be 4 inches in diameter. Access requires unlocking a locked gate. The contractor is responsible for verifying the casing diameter by digging, contacting the Minnesota Department of Health for well depth estimates, and removing a hazard tree if necessary. Optional work includes removing piping and culvert, and removing a concrete trough.
