Description
The City of Monticello is seeking qualified contractors for a comprehensive tree management program. This includes the removal of up to 234 private ash trees and up to 189 public boulevard ash trees, along with stump grinding and a 1:1 replanting effort. The program is supported by the 2026-2027 MNDNR ReLeaf Program. The selected contractor will be responsible for ensuring all removals adhere to safety standards and environmental regulations, including those related to Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) quarantine and movement restrictions. All debris must be properly disposed of, and disturbed areas restored to their original condition. Stump grinding will be performed to 12 inches below grade, with grindings removed and the area backfilled with clean soil and seeded. Replanting will involve planting City-supplied trees according to ANSI A300 standards, with the contractor responsible for transport, planting, mulch ring installation, and initial watering. A one-year workmanship warranty is required for all replanting. The contract term is for three years, with the contractor remaining available through July 28, 2029, for additional services, including emergency storm response, at City-approved unit prices. Pricing for these services, as well as optional services for Monticello residents, must be provided.
