Description
Hennepin County is soliciting bids for the CSAH 61 (Hemlock Ln) and CSAH 130 (Elm Creek Blvd) Intersection Improvement Project in Maple Grove, Minnesota. This safety-focused project aims to improve accessibility, mobility, and safety through several key enhancements. The scope of work includes the reconstruction of existing right-turn channelizing islands to a smart channel design, which will help drivers slow down more substantially when turning and yield to oncoming traffic. Additionally, the project will involve the removal of unnecessary buffer space, replacement and upgrading of traffic signals with accessible pedestrian signals, and upgrading ADA accommodations to ensure compliance and ease of use for all users. The project will also shorten crossing distances for pedestrians and cyclists. The project is located in a fully developed urban area and is intended to address a history of high crash rates at this intersection. The improvements are designed to enhance safety for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists by reducing vehicle speeds and improving overall intersection safety.
