Description
The Colorado Department of Transportation is accepting applications for 2026 Off-System Bridge Program grants administered through the Special Highway Committee. Funding supports replacement or major rehabilitation of eligible major bridges and major culverts owned by Colorado counties or municipalities and located on public roads. Eligible structures generally have a combined clear span greater than 20 feet and are in Fair or Poor condition; Poor structures are eligible for replacement, while Fair structures are generally eligible for major rehabilitation. Applicants must provide at least a 20% local match and submit an application addressing the need for funding, project scope, eligibility, shovel-ready status, schedule, cost estimate, requested grant amount, local-match commitment, inspection information, and photographs. Limited approach roadway work may be eligible, generally up to 15% of bridge replacement or rehabilitation costs. The application period opens August 31, 2026, and closes October 30, 2026.
