NOTICE FOR PROPOSAL The City of Zion, Illinois, will receive SEALED PROPOSALS for 2800 Sheridan Road Structural Engineering Report, for the City of Zion. Said proposals will be received until 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2026 by the City Clerk, City Hall, 2828 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois, and at that time said proposals will be publicly opened and read. Said proposals shall be in a sealed envelope, plainly marked on the outside with the name and address of the company submitting the proposal and with the words "PROPOSAL FOR 2800 SHERIDAN ROAD STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING REPORT RFP”, OCTOBER 12, 2026 AT 10:00 A.M." Description

The City of Zion is seeking proposals from Illinois-licensed structural engineering firms to perform a comprehensive structural condition assessment of the former Zion Fire Station, an approximately 8,000-square-foot masonry building constructed in 1959, and deliver a formal structural engineering report. The work includes visual, non-destructive inspection of accessible foundations, slabs, basement and crawl-space areas, load-bearing walls, columns, beams, floor joists, and roof trusses; evaluation against current state and local building codes; identification of defects, suspected causes, and historical movement; documentation of inaccessible areas; and recommendations for repairs, maintenance, or further testing. Invasive testing requires prior written owner authorization. The report must include an executive summary, existing-conditions descriptions, photographic documentation of defects and suspected causes, phased remediation recommendations, and rough-order-of-magnitude cost estimates. Proposals must include a firm overview and relevant experience, a lump-sum fee, an estimated completion timeline, and proof of professional and general liability insurance. Firms must be licensed in Illinois, and lead engineers must hold a Structural Engineer or Professional Engineer license with at least five years of commercial structural-assessment experience.
