Description
The USGS Wetland and Aquatic Research Center requires the purchase and installation of two self-contained emergency safety showers, each equipped with an eye and face wash unit. These units must comply with ANSI Z358.1-2014 standards and be installed within existing laboratory spaces with water and electrical connections. The showers must be enclosed cubicles with integrated drain sumps and strip screens to contain water. Key technical requirements include a minimum operating pressure of 29 PSI for the shower, a flow rate of 20 gallons per minute, hands-free operation after initial activation, and a 1/4 HP, 120V sump pump. The eye/face wash must deliver at least 3 gallons per minute and have internally mounted, hand-activated units with capped ABS lids. All internal piping must be stainless steel. The units must also meet Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards, National Electrical Code, and other relevant building and safety codes.
