Description

The New York State Office of Children and Family Services seeks one qualified organization to provide the non-credit Developmental Writing/Technology Seminar for legally blind students entering their senior year of high school and participating in the NYSCB Pre-College Program. The course must combine accessible technology training with developmental writing instruction, including assistive and mainstream technologies, accessible online learning tools, web conferencing, discussion forums, research and college-library navigation, self-advocacy, and individual and collaborative learning. The contractor must develop and periodically update the curriculum, train program trainers, conduct one-on-one demonstrations, administer and deliver the program remotely, review and grade writing assignments, and provide post-program evaluations and reports. Classes are delivered live twice weekly for four weeks, with eight lessons per participant and independent work each week; up to 30 participants may participate annually. The contract is anticipated to run for five years, with total proposed costs capped at $350,000. The opportunity is limited to eligible New York State-certified MWBE, SDVOB, and/or SBE organizations, and applicants must provide a qualified program supervisor with at least four years of specified distance-learning experience and a master's degree in education.
