Description
The U.S. Geological Survey is offering a cooperative agreement to an eligible participating partner of the Northern Great Plains Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit. The project will develop and validate a robust ratiometric method for correcting solution-chemistry interference in molecularly imprinted polymer electrochemical sensor measurements of complex environmental water matrices, with emphasis on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including PFOA and PFOS. The work includes bench-scale proof-of-concept testing in tap and surface water, single-blind trials, and field deployment using samples associated with Joint Base Cape Cod. The recipient will use multichannel potentiostats capable of differential pulse and cyclic voltammetry, perform statistical analyses, integrate datasets, produce digital data and research products, and disseminate results through reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications in collaboration with USGS. The proposed project has one base year and two option years, with estimated total funding of $450,000 and no cost-sharing requirement.
