The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the historic reuse of the Robley Rex VA Medical Center campus in Louisville, Kentucky. The Development Parcel includes 15 buildings: 11 historically significant structures (including the main hospital building, Building 1, at 475,123 GSF) and 4 non-historic buildings. The selected developer will enter into a long-term ground lease (up to 99 years) and be responsible for all redevelopment, remediation, and operating costs. The project must comply with the National Historic Preservation Act, achieve at least LEED Silver or equivalent, and adhere to Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements. Proposals must include Building 1 and may include additional historic and non-historic buildings. The campus is expected to be fully vacated by late 2027, after which the developer will assume full control.
